Merino Wool comes from a special breed of Sheep called Merino Sheeps that are bred in Australia. Merino Wool is prized because of its exceptionally fine fiber diameter. While a normal wool fiber is 25–40 microns, merino wool fiber goes even lower with being just 15–24 microns which makes it smoother and ich less.
Thanks to the presence of Keratin and Lanolin in the fiber, Merin Wool’s natural anti-odor properties are much stronger than Bamboo.
And if this wasn't enough, Merino Wool is also temperature regulating, which means it keeps you warm in cold and keeps you cool in heat. This makes it an attractive option for baselayers.
It has everything you can ask from a natural fabric which is why it is super expensive. Brands often blend it with Lyocell or Bamboo to control costs.
